One of our favorite places to eat and to take big-city guests. You can get a variety of food from sandwiches to full entrees and the quality is always good. Love the grouper cakes with apricot curry sauce! UPDATE summer 2013: Plae has expanded and is now a spacious, gracious space with new menu items. We've always loved Plae for its variety, quality and service, but now we are more assured of getting a good table that is not too noisy. Bravo, Plae!

This was my second visit to Plae Bistro. Both the service and food are excellent. Tonight it was busy. If we hadn't snagged a couple of seats at the bar, we would have waited about 20 minutes for a table -- and it would have been worth it. The crowd at the bar was lively and well served by the staff. They are knowledgeable and quick. They also knew quite a few regulars and spent time chatting with them as they could. Drink service at the bar is excellent. Many of their cocktails are individually homemade. Their house wines are Salmon Creek. I enjoyed the Cabernet, and my companion loved the Pinot Grigio. Bread service tonight was a rustic white and a pretzel style. It included herb butter, flavored olive oil, and an olive tapenade. The butter was good, but a little cool for easy spreading. The oil and tapenade were excellent. Both were richly flavored and mild, not biting. The tapenade had just the right amount of salt. The cheddar cauliflower soup was perfect for today's cooler weather. It was rich with cheese, and the cauliflower was blended in developing a balanced texture that wasn't too rich. We shared the marinara goat cheese brulee as we waited for our main courses. The goat cheese and marinara sauce were excellent. I would have enjoyed a bit less sauce as it sometimes drowned out the rich tangy flavor of the cheese. The portion size was plentiful, more than enough to round a meal of salads for two people. My companion enjoyed her caprese with heirloom tomatoes and a scallop. For me, the ahi tuna was excellent. The tuna was seasoned well, but the spices didn't overpower the meat, which was perfectly cooked to rare. The combination of mango, pickled onions, avocado, feta, and jicama with the meat and salad greens was perfect. The wasabi vinaigrette had just a slight kick and melded all the flavors together. I don't go for dessert very often, but the food here was so good that I couldn't resist. My companion and I split a typical Midwestern "better than sex" cake, which was just decadent enough to tie up this meal without ruining it. Plae Bistro doesn't serve the food I typically think of in Green Bay, but they have enough cheese in the menu to remind you that you haven't left Wisconsin. The menu is full of excellent choices from lighter salads to full on dinners for die-hard carnivores. Many of the dishes contain local ingredients and interesting combinations that make this a great place to check out if you are visiting Packer Stadium for a game or a tour.

We stopped here on our way up to Door County since it had a high rating, but this place is way overrated. The sirloin sandwich was greasy, the Cesar salad had lettuce with no crunch, and the portobello slider was overpowered by a way too garlicy mayonnaise and had a limp, under-toasted bun. The tomato bisque was the only decent thing we tried. Overpriced as well. $34 for lunch for two. The decor was nice, service was good, and our food was ready quickly. It was not terrible food, but definitely not worth the prices or deserving of a 4.5 star rating.

My wife and I are not big eaters so the spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl is EXCELLENT! Kelly our waitress was excellent as well. Yes, highly recommended!!

Plae bistro came highly recommended to try since they have gluten free items on the menu. Our party decided to give it a try. Located near a Bellevue office park (near Costco), our party made the trip over after a canoeing adventure at Wolf river. Service was so so considering they were not busy and it was a very late lunch. The food however was delicious. I was able to sample a little bit of the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, Mac and cheese with chicken and bacon, and had the wagyu burger. Wagyu burger was served with caramelized onions and a pretzel bun. This burger was out of this world. I ate the entire thing, unapologetically. :) If you're in town, a definite good place.

Wonderful place!!! Awesome flavor combination! I had the bruschetta and the chowder soup and crab topped filet with Merlot wine reduction.. Perfectly cooked. This place is a jewel in Green Bay.. I will be back!

Awesome service, delicious food, great menu selection, nice atmosphere. We stopped by this place today and my goodness was it worth every penny. The bread service is such a nice touch, the beers are awesome and inexpensive. We had the ahi tuna salad and the burger, both of which were amazing. We also has two of their beers and those were delicious as well. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and so was the rest of the stuff.

This place is amazing! Got here for a friend's wedding and had lunch at this bistro. The place was a little pricey but it was worth it for the tastes they have. Go give it a try! I ordered the lunch combo with soup of the moment, being clam chowder, a slider, and the dessert of the moment, which was rum cake and it was the BOMB!!! All of my friends were the fan of the onion soup and that blew my taste buds as well. Pretty much a blown out experience, in an awesome way though. Go! Go eat there!

I would like to start this review by saying the service at the bar was great. Both bartenders were very attentive. Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. The food and drink menu are uninspired and bland. Everything here has been done before. The food is a step above Olive Garden but at 3x the price. The decor is generic and the lighting is too bright. I hope there is a better place to dine in Green Bay, and hopefully I find it next time I'm in town.

The best restaurant in Green Bay. They serve wagyu burgers daily and special wagyu offerings. It's the highest quality beef in america. It's locally grown!

Wow wow wow. The food here is very, very good! I am writing this as I am just getting home, still stuffed and satisfied. So, my husband and I decided to try this place after all the rave yelp reviews. And man, are we glad we did! For one, the place was packed! Several people were turned away as the night wore on because they didn't make reservations, so keep that in mind. I'm sure it's fine on weekdays but on a Saturday night the place is full! So, to start off, I was able to redeem my yelp offer for a free glass of house chardonnay. Getting boozed up for free is always a great way to score some points in my book. The wine was good too! Next, the atmosphere. It was a mix between a bar and a 5-star restaurant. To be honest, it threw me off. Some people were dressed up and others were in their jeans. I liked the casual undertone however so that was fine. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. So, the food. They start you off with little bread buns, warm and fresh. We were given 2. We had an herbed biscuit and pretzel bun. With it, they serve three dipping sauces/spreads. My only complaint is they didn't give us enough bread to use all the delicious spreads on! One was an herb infused olive oil (yum) another was a chopped olive spread (double yum) and the last was an Herby, fresh butter (triple yum) mixing them together on the herb bun was heaven. I had the beef tenderloin cooked to medium. Oh wow was it good. Cooked perfectly, very juicy, and the dry rub on the outside gave it perfect spice and texture. Best we have had in Green Bay. It was served with mashed sweet potatoes and seasonal veggies (Brussels sprouts.) The sprouts were cooked wonderfully and very delicious. The sweet potatoes were a bit too spicy for my tastes, which clashed awkwardly with the sweetness of the potatoes, but the sprouts helped neutralize the taste. That is my only picky-pants complaint. The beef was so good that everything was forgiven for 5/5 stars. This truly is one of the best restaurants in the area. Stop by and give it a try. The quality of food is well worth the price! Great place for a birthday or anniversary. I'm already excited to go again - their menu has SO many delicious options to choose from!

Started off with some delicious bread, with a fancy olive tampenade, fancy delicious butter, and a fancy olive oil all delicious! Started with a recommendation of the Tuna Bites (blackened). WHOA. Comes with Avocado, tomato, and a wasabi aioli. Then had the Plae Burger with chips and salsa. Good smoky burger, cooked to perfection, with tons of food. AWESOME FIND!

I have not had a bad meal at Plae. I have had a poor experience with drunk revelers in a very echo-prone main dining room though. When you are in the mood to spend a little extra money for better ingredients done with flair, this place is great. But it can get uncomfortably noisy.

Good service but worst steak I have ever gotten in a restaurant. We had a party of six none of the customers would ever choose to go back

Very impressed with this establishment. Order the Ahi Tuna salad for lunch and asked if they had a nutrition guide to accompany it. They did not but the waitress talked with the chef and they provided me with quantities of ingredients used so I could research nutrients myself. What great service! The salad came out and was delicious. I will be returning and probably ordering the salad again. Thanks for the experience guys/gals!

This review is way overdue, as I have dined at Plae many times, and each visit has been nothing but fantastic. Don't be fooled by its location in a strip mall, the interior is sleek and beautiful, and they also have a great patio. The food is consistently outstanding. I am especially fond of the ahi tuna appetizer, which I highly recommend ordering blackened. I have ordered several different entrees, and I have been especially impressed with how fresh all of their seafood dishes were. Servers and bartenders are knowledgable and gracious. You get the impression everyone truly appreciates your business. Each time I come, I threaten to kidnap their chef and take her back to Chicago, but then I wouldn't have this fabulous meal to look forward to when I visit Green Bay.

Love this place- my daughter arranged a chef's table for a surprise birthday- Mother's Day celebration. Had a great time, food was excellent , chef was very good and entertaning. Was somewhat surprised at the cost for six of us we had three bottles of wine, 2 martinnis, 4 bottles of beer. Total with tip was over $600 . Will definitely go back for dinner but I think we will pass on the chefs table

LOVE this place. Cant say enough good things about Plae Bistro. They have amazing food and the service is always the best in the area. For a real treat make sure to check them out on New Years eve (as long as you make reservations well ahead of time). They food is tempting to the eye, and even better on the taste-buds. With great flavor, tenderness and it just melts in your mouth, you will want to come back for more and more, until you realize that the end has come... but don't fret, as that was just the appetizer. The entree's are fantastic and the variety is perfect. You are not overwhelmed by the menu selection, and you also aren't limited to the Friday Fish fry. I havent had a bad thing from the menu, and I have never had the same thing twice. If you get a chance to try the lamb, do it! It is the best lamb I have ever eaten, and coming from Australia, that is saying something! The deserts are simple unavoidable! If you don't have room, make room! Your stomach will thank you! If I could give PB 6 stars I would, and that still wouldn't be enough! Best place in Green Bay to eat!

Came out here on a business lunch and this place is terrific. The place does seem like a sleepy bistro, but the food here is amazing and to be honest is not something I would have thought to have found in WI, but something you'd find in a larger metropolis for a lot more. Great place to eat, food is wonderful, and the staff is just the nicest group of people out there. Highly recommend!

Excellent bar service, great decor, efficient/helpful/kind waitress and her trainee, fantastic food. Whenever I come here, I always order some type of fish as it is always fresh and prepared so well. This is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. It's not overpriced and you get what you pay for, and then some. The employees here are well trained and have a nice sense of pride in their service. Three other things to note that are a big deal to me: 1.) the bathrooms here are clean. We didn't arrive until 7:45pm and it was busy. Yet, the bathrooms were really tidy. It shows that there is some kind of ongoing upkeep taking place. 2.) all employees here say "you're welcome" rather than the current/breezy replacement of "no problem". Simply put: if you say "no problem", you're talking about yourself. You're informing the customer that you don't feel inconvenienced to do you job, which is wrong to do and also displays bad manners. If you say "you're welcome", the focus is still on the favoree, where it rightfully belongs. When serving customers, it should be a pleasure to give them business vs. implying that you are doing some type of favor for the customer. Love that everyone at Plae Bistro says "you're welcome". 3.) take-home containers for leftovers are biodegradable. I hate it when I go to a restaurant and I get styrofoam containers, which sit in a landfill for eternity and are harmful to our wildlife. Plae Bistro does things right. It's a class act place.

Plae is a great spot to meet friends or to go for a romantic evening just the two of you. The dining space and bar are both beautiful, and equally comfortable. They carry a great wine list, and their food is always on point. We really enjoy the tuna bites, the lobster mac & cheese, the salmon and the tuna entrée. Whatever you have, you will not be disappointed!

Everything delicious, all plates seemed especially prepared to order. They bring you delicate breads to start. The Tomahawk Ribeye was just out of this world! Fish Tacos and the salad with Apple, Pear, Nuts, Sweet Potatoes bites was very tasty as well.

I went here this weekend to celebrate with family. It was an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is a bit fancy but not in a stuffy way at all. It feels classy and cool. We ordered drinks at the bar and then were seated to eat. This might be my one complaint, it's a bit cramped. The tables are pretty close together but it didn't bother us too much. The food was exceptional. They start you with an amazing bread tray. I ordered the Cajun shrimp and andouille sausage pasta and my wife ordered the ribeye. Both were delicious and I would definitely get them again. They were also excellent warmed up the next day.

Surprise strip mall find (thanks yelp) with excellent food, classy modern decor, and big portions (it is Wisconsin). Departure from the greasy Wisconsin fare and gluten free and diet friendly tasty dishes. 4.5 stars Food: 4, Atmosphere: 4, Service: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 3 (more expensive for this area but great quality: share plates and sandwiches $10-$15, pastas ~$18, entrees $25-$38) Eve award: best gluten free mac and cheese Return worthiness: yes! Highlights: - Mac cheese: pure cheese just creamy enough. Cheddary and smokey with a bit of bacon with chicken. I'm picky about my mac and cheese being one of my all time favorite dishes and this gets a bullseye - Gluten free friendly: have both pasta and bread options. Makes me happy being able to eat these without having to worry about how my stomach will react to it - Salad selection: not just the standards. They have seafood ones like shrimp, ahi, and salmon. My mom loved her salmon - Buffalo burger: mom's cuz liked the peppery sauce and that it was juicy since the lean meat has a tendency to dry out - Rule of no breaded or fried items: must be unheard of in Wisconsin - Healthier attempt without compromising flavor: example being the buffalo burger and tortilla chips doesn't make you feel like you're making a big sacrifice - Bar: horseshoe shape that looks like a welcoming spot to get a happy hour cocktail - Setting: nice and modern with tall mirrors and dark colors - Pleasant mellow music: xm coffeehouse style - Seating: 2 dining rooms with tables and a few huge deep tall booths that could fit 10 Midlights: - French onion soup: too salty Lowlights: - No kids menu: though they have kid cups and booster/high chairs - No fries w burger figure they could do baked strings or sweet potato fries to stick a their no fry rule - No room for dessert when they brought the big sample plate over I know nothing about Green Bay dining and lucked out finding this on opentable (and cross-referencing with yelp of course). I highly recommend it to anyone in the area and would return in a heartbeat if I'm back in the area.

The best food and best tenderloin in Green Bay! After living in the area for over 10 years, I've eaten at many restaurants and still, nothing comes close to the quality of their food. And the steak, world's better than any of the really expensive places I've been to in GB. The daily risotto change offers interesting options. The decor is top-notch. Love this place!

I came here while visiting my parents in Green Bay. I was surprised to see wagyu beef on the menu for $39 for a 12 oz. steak. I found out there is an American type of wagyu beef. My steak was great and the service was pleasant. I would return.

**Update #2 4/28** below- bad bar service We went to Plae on a Tuesday thinking we would be checking out a sleepy bistro in a strip mall. It was packed! It was a sign of good things (although not the most appropriate place for a 4 month old baby). We sat on the bar side and we were again suspicious. We had just moved to Allouez and were walking in completely blind. We started with the tuna bites that were actually outstanding. I was surprised! We also had the marinara goat cheese brulee -- I liked it, but it was a LOT of marinara sauce and made the bottom of all of the bread super mushy. It was plated beautifully, but might have been better with the bread on the side or less marinara. For entrees, my mother had the bacon mac and cheese. It was great -- huge, but was even better the next day. I had the kobe pretzel burger. It was very tasty, but again even better cold the next day! Mixed greens salad was forgettable. My husband got the gorgonzola peppercorn buffalo burger, which was great -- though the french bread was a bit unwieldy. Wine selection was comprehensive. Overall, a great experience and delicious, albeit pricey, food. We'll be back for special occasions or whenever I get a job. Update: We've had Plae three times now, once as take-out. I've had the mushroom burger twice. It's REALLY delicious. My husband got the Plae Caesar with Ahi Tuna and the the pork chop. My mom has had the Shrimp and Sausage pasta as well as the stuffed chicken. The take-out ahi salad wasn't right -- the tuna was off, but everything else has been really, really delicious. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars -- there have been a couple of hiccups, but really its better than a 4. I would highly recommend! Update 2: we stopped in for an appetizer and some wine... The bar was full, so we sat at a counter in front of the window. Unfortunately, the bartender forgot our appetizer order, so our quick stop ended up being more than an hour long affair that crept dangerously close to baby's bedtime. She was apologetic, we got our food + a complimentary bread plate. This would have been forgivable, accept that we were scolded by the male bartender for opening a slat of a blinds to wave at the baby through the window (yes, one slat) which momentarily shone in the eyes of some patrons. He did it in such a rude and condescending way, hollering at us as if we were the riff raff in the corner. Sure, we were walking all over the place and trying to appease a munchkin who's patience had worn thin, but that wasn't our fault. She's a terrific restaurant-goer and we purposely chose to grab an appetizer to speed things up. We felt abandoned and then rudely corrected and it has seriously damaged my previously rave reviews of Plae.

INCREDIBLE! Truly impressed! Sara(h) was unbelievably accommodating; brought water for my pup and beets for her to eat. Great service!! The garden is cute ( they grow their own herbs!); amazing menus with a plethora of gluten free options; the interior was stylish, sophisticated and clean! Highly recommend.. easy access to the highways!

I have gone here almost a handful of times within the last 6 months and have never been disappointed. The first time was with a girlfriend for a nice dinner, second time with my mom and sister to enjoy a tapas style dinner and the third was for restaurant week. For the dinner with my friend we shared the spinach and artichoke dip and I had the Grilled Apple & Pear salad, both were presented well and were great tasting, I will be getting that salad again for sure! As far as the tapas style meal it really couldn't have gotten any better. Our server, Tara, really made it an overall fantastic meal! We shared one of the Mahi Mahi specials, scallops, grouper cakes and the Burrata Cheese/Mozzarella heaven and all I can say is WOW! Everything was expertly prepared and we were sad when we got to the last bites. Can't even begin to explain how great this meal was! Restaurant Week also didn't disappoint, of all the places we have gone for Restaurant Week with this place you know you are getting your money's worth for a fantastic meal. Highlights - Chilean sea bass, tenderloin with crab and the mushroom ravioli, topped off with the better than sex cake, absolutely delicious! This will be my go-to for Restaurant Week next year for sure! The food/drink specials are always changing and from my experience very delicious! When I had dinner with my friend we received bread service as well and it was very different, in a good way! Great bread with flavored butters and tapenades. The décor is nice and clean and everyone is very helpful! Can't wait to go back!

This restaurant is in a sort of odd, hard to find, backside of a strip mall location. However, it's beautiful inside, totally worth the trip -- and locals must know it because it was packed when we got there in the early afternoon. It's one of those "New American" places that are either totally amazing or not special at all and the only way to find out is to go. What I ate was just a burger...but it was a "kobe" burger with delicious caramelized onions and brie on a pretty credible gluten free pretzel roll, and when you have to eat gluten free bread you know that getting decent gluten free bread is no small thing. I requested medium rare and my burger was actually medium rare, which is also pretty uncommon in this part of the world. My friend raved about her grilled romaine salad, too. I don't really go to Green Bay ever, but if I ever pass through again I'd definitely go straight back to this place.

I would come back again! Huge ahi tuna salad with a ginger dressing that is so refreshing. For dessert they bring out a dessert tray for you to choose from. Must have the chocolate cake!

I was with a friend / co-worker on a business trip and I invited a potential client and his girlfriend to dinner and he suggested this place. We went on April 2nd 2014. Everything was perfect. Our waitress provided excellent service and her timing was spot on as well as her recommendations. I am a huge red meat fan and a purist so I went with the premium beef tenderloin WITHOUT the stuffing or sauteed mushrooms and onions. It was the most tender cut of beef I have ever eaten. It great seasoning but was light enough that didn't overpower so the beef tenderloin flavor really came through. There was a nice thin sear that really enhance the texture of the beef as well. We ordered the NxNW wine which went nicely with the beef. We enjoyed several rounds of drinks after our meal and we all really had a fun time. The waitress was definitely a class act too.

Terrible customer service tonight. Drove half the day looking forward to dinner at hotel -- take out from Plae. Phone person/hostess wanted nothing to do with helping me. I should've known when she said my order would take an hour!! I told her I could live with that. She never asked what i wanted....which was a salad!!! I was placed on hold for 10 minutes before hanging up. Such a disappointment. I'm going to spend my money somewhere else locally.

  • S H.

Seriously disappointing. Grilled apple and pear salad was overly sweet to the point of being inedible also the greens were not fresh and had gross textured yams in it as well. Short rib tacos had dried out flavorless meat and the waffle corn dogs lacked texture. For three small plates it really does not justify spending $50. It seems as though the plating and general style of the food is outdated by like 10 years. Service though was very good and pleasant.

Outstanding bar with a wonderful selection of cocktails and wines to start. They always carry two local beers on tap which is great too. The food is always out of this world and a new addition is usually seen on the menu. Definitely try the spaetzel side which is lightly pan seated and served with mushroom. Yum.

Loved the lobster Mac n cheese. This is a meal in itself. I had steak which was good but my sister had the walleye which was excellent. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Serves was good. Prices are higher but I had enough for two meals. I'm looking forward to planning the chef meal.

I like to make maps. No, I don't dabble in cartography, I make Google maps any time I travel. I plot out the trip as well as points of interest (usually restaurants) along the way. Yes, it is nerdy, but it has helped me discover some true gems, like Plae. I have a tendency to throw a bunch of places on a map and remember nothing about what drew me to them, except they have some food on the menu I found appealing. This was the case with Plae; a place adjacent to a Holiday Inn Express and anchoring an almost vacant strip mall. The state of the mall gave me pause, but we were hungry and went in. The place is very nice, having undergone a recent expansion that basically doubled the space. They have a room in the bar area, a dining room, outdoor patio and little room that looks like it is for tastings. Make a reservation because it gets packed; we got lucky by arriving before the dinner crowd. The couple arriving as we left wasn't so fortunate, unwilling to contend with the wait for a table. It took us forever to order, through no fault of our friendly, patient server. We had difficulty choosing one item each, there were many items on the regular menu and special menu calling our name. I settled on the mango fish tacos with a side of cheesy broccoli potatoes and my partner in crime the grouper with sides of carrots and duck risotto. Before our meals arrived, we were served rolls with a trio of toppings - seasoned olive oil, olive tapenade and the "butter of the week." The butter, oh the butter! We actually asked if we could buy it, but decided it wouldn't keep while we camped (cue sad trombone). Fresh butter with garlic, cheese and New Glarus beer, it was delectable. We asked for extra rolls, so we could enjoy every last bite. I'm salivating as I write this. Our entrees were delicious. My compatriot loved his meal; raving about the fish and the risotto, which had large pieces of duck in it. I tried a bit of the pecan-crusted walleye and it was quite good. If I could find flaw with one thing, it would be my tacos; the tacos need some acid or spice to offset the sweetness of the mango, it was a bit overwhelming. The fish was tender and juicy and cabbage slaw gave them a nice crunch; I was unable to make it through all three. We devoured our meals, leaving no room for the dessert menu. If I ever find myself in Green Bay again, I will be stopping at Plae again. Without a doubt, this was an excellent and unexpected find.

This has become our go-to restaurant in Green Bay. It really never disappoints. You absolutely have to have a reservation on a thurs-sat night. Even then, expect to wait so we usually factor that in and plan to spend 20 min at the bar getting a drink.

Plae is my go-to spot for dinner dates. You really can't beat their specials and classy atmosphere. The duck and risotto dinner I had is still my favorite. Recommend signing up to their email alerts.

For the area, this seems to be a high point in dining. Very nice selection of menu items ranging from daily specials, salads, burgers (tuna, mushroom, eggplant, beef options-wow!), entrees, pastas, and lots of dessert choices too. The complimentary rolls and spread options was enjoyable. Funny, that only 1 roll per person is initially brought but extras were allowed - when we asked. Nice to see the female staff in the dining room and there was a good team approach with service. Entrees had 2 side options so the portions were generous. The veggies were grilled asparagus and there were at least 10 stalks. Risotto was dry and the inclusion of broccoli was a bit overpowering in flavor. Of course, I had to order the walleye. The sauces on some of the items seemed to be on the sweet side instead of savory so maybe that is a local preference. Personally, amaretto cream sauce on pecan encrusted fish sounded cloying. Kitchen allowed me to substitute the lemon beurre blanc instead. The fish remained hot through out the meal so if they are using hot plates it is making a big difference- nice! Sirloin with mushrooms was cooked as requested too. Entrees seemed to be in the mid $ 20 range. Burgers around $10-14 range. Gooey brownie with heath crumbles was good. Dessert portions were shareable for the most part. Restaurant is located in an otherwise empty strip mall between the Holiday Inn Express and prison (?). Nice patio option too. About 4 miles from "the stadium" easy drive from there . Service dropped off a bit when it was time for the check. Call ahead for reservations- it filled up by 6:30 on a Tuesday! We were very satiated and would recommend this for your visit.

I've been here a couple times now and it's one of the best places to eat in the area. The walleye is phenomenal, I've had it twice now. Everything is very reasonably priced considering the quality and the great service. Highly recommend.

Not what we hoped after reading the reviews. We had steak and walleye with a salad and bruschetta. The best thing was the salad, which was delicious. The food was just average in our opinion and not worth the 45 minutes we had to wait to be seated despite having a reservation! Disappointing. Gave two stars for the great server and bartenders

Quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in the area. Beet and bean burger with goat cheese is delightful, and the blackened shrimp wrap is also fantastic. Relaxing atmosphere, great service. We always leave feeling satisfied.

I've been going to Plae Bistro for years and almost always get the Ahi Tuna; it's the best around. But the other day we went for lunch and the waitress recommended a new turkey, fig and pesto panini on their lunch menu that she said was unbelievable...I took her word for it and she was 100% right. I would have never considered it without her recommendation. It's a must try!!!

If it has Greg Jennings's approval, it has mine. Greg Jennings believes in his-smellf. Greg Jennings isn't afraid of Darren Sharper. Greg Jennings can score touchdowns with broken legs. And if he says this is his favorite restaurant in Green Bay, then who am I to disagree? All Old Spice and Madden references aside, this place really is a hidden gem. I had carryout so I can't say too much about the experience of dining in, but the ambiance is semi-upscale but not stuffy. Here's what I had: Grouper Cakes: Best dish of the night. The grouper cakes are basically crab cakes made with grouper. They are paired PERFECTLY with an apricot sauce that makes the sweet+savory combination explode in your mouth. I couldn't get enough. My girlfriend finally had to rip the box away from my face after I had licked the box clean for thirty minutes. Original Pizza: Their version of a Margherita but they've added some prosciutto to give it a little more flavor. The pizza was a little too dough-heavy for my taste but the ingredients were fresh. Scallop and Shrimp Pesto Pasta: Scallops, shrimp and bacon in one dish. I'm not a huge fan of pesto but this pasta dish made me question whether I actually didn't like pesto or I just had bad pesto in the past. I'm leaning towards the latter because I couldn't have been happier with the dish. I just wish they put in more scallops... They also gave us 3 different kinds of bread and 2 dips for the bread, even though it was a take-out order! I've never received the bread you usually get at the table as a compliment to the meal in a take-out order before. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. It will run you 20+ a head, but it's worth it for the best food in Green Bay. Personal Recommendation: 100 orders of Grouper Cakes

This is definitely a special place. We stopped in for a quick lunch before heading out of town and I couldn't tear my eyes away from the chicken mango wrap with arugula and blue cheese. Sticking with my 'lighter side' theme, I opted for mixed greens on the side, which were served with a balsamic vinaigrette. Bill went for the Plae burger and the blue corn chips/salsa. Too bad that fries didn't seem to be an option, because I'm sure they'd do them up real nice here... But the chips were amazing in their own right. If they don't make them I need to know where these come from. My wrap lived up to all expectations and aligned itself well along with the theory of "mix together a bunch of items you like and it'll taste amazing." And in wrap format, you get to experience those flavors in concert at times, and in different combinations at others. So what if this seemed more like a summer dish? As I munched away under the warm glow of wall-mounted gas fireplaces and Christmas decor... it was satisfying and delicious. Next time we're in GB, we'll definitely have to hit up a full meal here. (Plus, if you check in on Yelp and purchase an entree you get a free glass of vino!)

Outstanding experience!! Everything about this restaurant is not only an execution in excellence, but is also a tremendous value. The truffled pasta, the mushroom ravioli, the Chilean sea bass and the prawn special were all prepared perfectly. The service and timing were impeccable. Hooray for Plae in Green Bay!!

Amazing from start to finish. Decent wine selection by the glass or bottle. Appetizer: we had the grilled cheese bites with roasted tomato dipping sauce. Tasty, the sauce was so good my husband ate it with a spoon when the grilled cheese was gone. Then a selection of four different breads (individual sized rolls) with three dip/spread options...sun-dried tomato butter, olive tapenade, and herb infused EVOO (my personal favorite, though all were good). Entrees: My dad had the duck, which he said was delicious. My husband had gyros which he raved about. My mom had the apple and brie stuffed chicken, which she said was tasty but not spectacular. I had the seared Ahi Tuna which was to die for. I lived on a Pacific island for a year and have not had fresher or more delicious Ahi Tuna since I lived 50 feet from where it was caught. It was seared rare, perfect, well seasoned and tender. The four of us split a GIGANTIC piece of carrot cake for dessert, which was also delicious. The meal set us back about $45 per person including wine and dessert. Well worth it, this is one of the best meals I've ever had, in GB or anywhere else. The atmosphere is nice, cozy while being trendy and industrial-chic. I would not bring kids to this restaurant. It has more of a romantic/small group vibe, and I wouldn't pay this much to feed a picky kid who'd probably eat 2 bites of the meal and then want McDonalds. :)

Plae Bistro is a casual, yet sophisticated spot that's equally suited for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner. The restaurant is cozy, but a bit on the small side. If you're waiting to be seated, you'll find that the bar area is cramped and uncomfortable. Luckily, they are currently in the process of expanding the restaurant, which should alleviate this issue. The menu consists of New American cuisine, including salads, sandwiches, pastas, steaks, and daily fresh fish specials. Prior to dining, a basket of wicked awesome rolls produced by Great Harvest Bread Company is bought to the table, along with dipping oil and olive tapenade. Of the numerous items I've had at Plae Bistro, some of those that stand out for me are the macaroni and cheese, which is rich and luscious, and the pan-seared duck breast, which has crispy skin and is served with a blueberry-pomegranite reduction. Due to the limited seating of the restaurant, it can seem cramped and crowded, and the service can be a bit slow. However, as I previously mentioned, expansion plans are in the works, so this should be less of a problem in the future. If the quality of the food remains the same, Plae Bistro should have no problem filling up the larger space.

We've always had pretty good meals at Plae with the exception of the last two trips and that's why I'm giving it three stars. Tonight's meal was by far the worst we've had. The pork belly appetizer seemed as if it was re-warmed in the microwave which made it tough. The grouper cakes were cooked in oil that was way too cold which made them mushy. The rib-eye appeared to have no seasoning and was very tough, and finally the chicken was very dry. The service appeared to be friendly, but really felt fake and she never asked us how things were, but assumed things were great. And lastly, which will seam nit picky, when you pay $13 for a Woodford and ask for it neat, the bartender should either know what that means or ask. I hope we either hit it on a bad night because you've always been a pretty good option in GB.

Can't believe that I've lived in this area & hadn't tried Plae Bistro before. Visited during Green Bay Restaurant week for lunch. Wonderful experience! Very nice appearing restaurant and friendly waitstaff. Others have written about waiting a lot, but they were at the top of their game that day; very attentive. Had the tuna BLT and can't remember when I've enjoyed a sandwich that much! I had concerns since lots of people can't fixed tuna correctly - including myself! But this was fixed perfectly. Read through their regular menu and saw a lot of things that sounded exciting. We are more of "lunch" people so was pleased to see such a wide variety of different lunch options. My husband's comment would be, however, no french fries?

I was in Green Bay the past weekend for the marathon and decided to dine here with my girlfriend and my daughter the night before the race. I must admit, reading the online reviews my expectations were high for this restaurant and I left the meal underwhelmed and a tad disappointed. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and they have done a fine job trying to disguise this fact. The atmosphere was pleasant and our waiter did a solid job. The restaurant is a bistro in name only and it doesn't carry through on the dishes. Nowhere can you find moule and frites, croque monsieur, etc. I feel there is an identity crisis looming...with cajun, italian, greek, and american fare, the restaurant has a hard time executing on the dishes. We enjoyed the grouper crab cakes. They were delicately prepared and paired nicely with the accompanying mango sauce. From there, the meal went downhill. Bread was delivered to our table. The bread was incredibly dense and doughy inside and undercooked-making it feel they are simply pulled out of a package and baked. My daughter's macroni and cheese claimed to be "gourmet made with imported and domestic cheese" (their words, not mine). What she received was similar to a better box of mac and cheese you could buy at a grocery store. It basically tasted of velveeta. Nowhere was the bite of an aged cheddar, an asiago, etc. My girlfriend's grilled apple and pear salad was rather pedestrian with a cloyingly sweet maple vinaigrette. The butternut squash used in the salad was roasted beyond recognition and we had to look it up later to remember what it was. My dish, shrimp and scallop penne, also didn't deliver any wows. I have no qualms about spending money on a dish but when the dish contains only 2 smaller scallops and 3-4 shrimp (that hinged on being overcooked, $19 is rather excessive. The service ends with our server bringing out a tray of desserts for our viewing pleasure. The desserts looked well constructed but we were disappointed that of the 6 that are offered, only the "Better than almost anything" cake was made in house. For the price points at this restaurant, I find it inexcusable to bring in desserts. I feel they try to cater to too wide of a spectrum of customers and as a result, quality suffers. I am a big believer on execution and if this means a smaller menu, so be it. Having 3-5 daily specials also points to the problem of the restaurant trying to be everything to everyone. In conclusion, after the positive reviews I read and the higher than average price points, I expected entrees to come through with flavor and preparation. Instead, we received food that was average in taste, poor in overall value and at the end, rather forgettable. A shame.

I was in Green Bay for a day so we were looking for a place other than fast food or chains. I'm glad we found Plae. It's located in an office area so it's kind of hard to find unless you're looking for it (Thanks, Yelp). There is a large variety of sandwiches, all of which sounded good. Everyone in my group got a different sandwich and all of us were happy with what we ordered. I had the gorgonzola peppercorn buffalo burger. It was a great burger...I was reluctant to use french bread in place of a bun but it was delicious. I wish I had ordered the Ahi BLT. I tried a bite and I wanted to trade.

Casual place with superb food! Steaks are amazing and the risotto was the best I have ever tasted! Their chicken panini was tender, tasteful and well presented. Cleverly tucked away, but worth the stop. Can't wait to go back and try their lobster Mac & Cheese!

This is an extremely popular establishment, be prepared to wait if you plan on dining on Friday or Saturday. The food at Plae Bistro is very good, although I wouldn't call it on par with establishments like Hinterland, it's price points are not as high either. The night I visited the place was truly slammed, but Plae still managed to deliver a great meal. Before the meal, they offer you bread with an olive oil dipping sauce and a tapenade, it is delicious! I had a filet which was buttery and fork tender. Plae is quite small, so you will find it always full of young and old, well dressed people out looking to enjoy and good glass or wine with a good meal... Enjoy!

Plae Bistro is one of my husband & I's favorite places to eat! We love the food, atmosphere, drinks and the staff! I find it very hard to believe that people can give Plae a bad review. Always start with a drink at the bar! Not only will you get a good drink, but you'll have great service from any of the bartenders! Try a martini, glass of wine or one their specialty drinks. Don't forget to have an after dinner drink too! The menu is amazing! Not only are there tons of options, but the prices are good too! Even the pickiest eater will easily find something to eat. Some of my favorites are the spinach artichoke dip, the apple pear walnut salad, the ahi tuna blt, the kobe beef burger on the pretzel roll, the duck ( my all time favorite!), and the mac and cheese with tomatoes and chicken, just to name a few. You cannot skip the dessert here! The carrot cake for two is an absolute must!!!! Every time we are at Plae, we have great service and great food! The staff is the best! They are always there to take good care of you. Also have to give a shout out to the guys in the kitchen, Chef Michael is really great! If you have not been here, you definitely need to go soon!

Great food. Bar is not good for meeting people, too small and encroaches on diners in tables that are too close to the bar. Young hostess was crabby and could use an attitude adjustment. Otherwise, overall good experience.

Visited Plae 2+ years ago with my husband (fiance at the time.) We are vegetarian but found enough to eat. I remember we got a soup and a cheese plate (plus another appetizer that I can't recall to memory.) The soup was a decent puree soup that I could've made at home. When the cheese plate was served we expected to be told what we were eating since it wasn't specified on the menu. It was listed as either a 'chef's selection' or a 'seasonal selection.' We asked our server and she didn't know so she went to the back to bring a chef to tell us. To our shock his answer was, "I don't know what cheese is on there, the prep guys put that together." NOT impressed. We never got an answer or an apology. Another detail that distracted us throughout the meal was that the pendant lights hanging at each table were just at the right level to be shining in directly in the diners eyes. It was very uncomfortable, we had to either squint or shade our eyes. First impressions do make a difference, we haven't gone back since that first visit.

My favorite restaurant in Green Bay. When we feel like spending a little extra money on dinner we go here most of the time. The service has always been friendly, the atmosphere is perfect for conversation and the bar makes great mojitos. Of course, the food is the reason to come, never had a bad meal here. I usually get the spicy garlic chicken, and it never disappoints. The flavor is perfectly balanced with spicy and savory flavors. There's a selection of sides too which I like, and you get a generous serving of bread and olive tapenade. Overall, a great place to celebrate or go on a nice date.

The wife and I have dined there in the past and we are just catching up to reviews. As far as Green Bay restaurants, its a step up. A nice change of pace from the pub grub that surrounds the area. Food and service were both on par with pricing. Small, intimate location. Good date night place. You won't be dissappointed if your looking for something different in the bay area. Its kind of a strip mall type location, but above average food. We have used them for catering as well for our business.

Plae Bistro is new, but it's already one of the best restaurants in Green Bay. I tried their gyro, which was surprisingly good - definitely better than the average gyro. The décor is reminiscent of a larger-city restaurant, which made it feel oddly out-of-place in its suburban, overly parking-lottified environment. That is probably its only real flaw, which is a compliment to their business. No, wait - their special-of-the-day menu insert was printed in comic sans. The weird location/comic sans combo knocks off a star.

I saw a sign on the door to go to Yelp, so I'm hoping that my review will be read by someone from there and things will get better. Today I walked in with the intentions of buying a gift certificate for someone. I stood at the host station and waited....and waited.....and waited. I peeked around the barricade to see if anyone would notice me standing there....and waited....and left, unnoticed. Can't say I'm shocked. My husband and I went to this place before at lunch, was seated and we waited.....and waited.....and waited......and left. and I'm actually a patient person. They have decent food and it's always been good when I did get the food, but I have to say, more times than not, I'm waiting. I'm surprised this place is getting so many 5 stars from reviewers. The service is more consistently slow and for the prices you pay, I expect much much better than what's being delivered.

Pretty hard to find. First the Yelp directions took us downtown. When we figured out we were in the wrong spot we typed in the address in the maps app on our phone. That got us somewhat closer but I guess because the area is still developing we didn't get the exact location. When we finally found the place there was a short wait. Overall, the staff was pretty friendly. The portions were perfect. Prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is ok, tables are pretty tight. Now that we know where it is, we might go back. It's nice finding a new place in Green Bay where there isn't a lot of options. Oh, we got the spinach artichoke for an appitizer...second best spinach artichoke in town.

For Green Bay this is a really cute spot. The dining area is small and I've heard it can be tough to get into for dinner but we went for lunch and were seated right away. I had the grilled apple and pear salad. It came as a spinach salad with blue cheese, crasins, and roasted squash with 3 really small apple slices and 3 really small pear slices ... on the side. The salad was good, it had a creamy balsamic dressing, but don't mis name your salads or simply add more fruit. my mom loves this place and comes often, it is defiantly a "girls lunch" location. The wait staff was kind and speedy also.

I can not say enough good things about this restaurant - great service, great menu choices, great quality and presentation, simply AWESOME. There were 4 of us that ate dinner here, 2 had steaks, one had pasta and one had walleye - all entrees were out of this world. I wish there was a Plae Bistro in the Minneapolis area. I will make certain to visit anytime I am in the Green Bay area.

You can't mis-pronounce the name of this place, because they made it up It's an anagram for something. It's like people correcting you when they name their child some imaginary word and you haven't pronounced it the way they've imagined you should. Anyway...I've been here a number of times and the food has consistently been really good and I've enjoyed the dining experience. I need to come just for dessert. On one memorable occasion, I was here on Fat Tuesday and I ordered a plate of crawfish and literally, got a plate piled up with boiled crawfish completely in the shell. The server didn't have any idea how to eat it, so she called in the chef, who came out and talked to me about it. That's never happened to me before. So I sucked the head and ate the tail, and it was all good. Anyway, they had a custom menu for the day that day. And I think it's typical that they do some special menus. They often have a mushroom spaetzle accompaniment with dishes, which I really enjoy, and do several variations on risotto. They'll bring a bread basket and some oil and vinegar for you and an olive tapenade (all good). I like the stuffed chicken breast, but I think it's generally better to do the specials of which they usually have several, including some great fish options. The drinks are tasty and it's a nice setting. There is a patio, also, but I've always eaten inside. I've always found the staff to be very professional. I think the food is really good quality and it's a great experience. Give it a try and you'll be enjoying a very nice, pleasant, relaxing dinner. Stopping by this place for dinner before a movie nearby is a recipe for a great evening.

This place is wonderful. I usually get the grilled apple and pear salad and ask them to add blackened salmon. So good. Different types of olive tapenades, oils and delicious bread comes out before your meal. On a weekend you can expect to wait a while for a table at night, but it's worth it. Go during the week for a lunch if you want to try this place out. Their tomato soup is also wonderful. Prices are a bit on the high side, but you're definitely getting what you pay for at this place.
